2014 MOM Check Presentation

Please join me in downtown Royal Oak next Monday, 7/21 at 7:30 PM for the MOM check presentation. The presentation will take on the 3rd floor of City Hall at the beginning of the regularly scheduled City Commission Meeting. This year’s MOM Race raised a record $35,000 for our charities. Stop by and hear how the funds will be used by The University of Michigan Depression Center, KnowResolve, and Common Ground.  Click here for the full agenda.

Glow-in-the-Dark Minigolf Fundraiser

You’re invited to a MOM pre-race fundraiser this Sunday, March 30 from 3-5 PM at Glowgolf in Sterling Heights, MI. Glowgolf is located inside Lakeside Mall, on the upper level next to Lord & Taylor.  Admission is $10/pp and includes three games of glow-in-the-dark mini golf.  A raffle, 50/50 drawing, and snacks will also be provided at this family-friendly event.  Proceeds will benefit Mind Over Matter to help support mental health awareness and suicide prevention efforts.

Mark your calendars for Piecing it Together: Mental Health Matters featuring Kevin Breel on Monday, March 24th at 6:30 PM at Waterford Kettering High School.

As a teenager, Kevin Breel nearly took his own life. His story, so powerfully told in “Confessions of a Depressed Comic,” gives voice to an often silent struggle and offers a message of hope. Kevin was recently featured on the Today Show and is excited to speak to Waterford Kettering families and community members.

The Bullycide Project

The Bullycide Project will be coming to Royal Oak Middle School on Wednesday, March 19th from 6:30 to 8 PM. The event is free and open to the public and will be held in the ROMS auditorium. The Bullyside Project is a 50-minute theatrical performance that chronicles the lives and deaths of nice individuals to promote anti-bullying awareness.

Reconnect with Recovery Yoga Workshop

You are invited to a free Reconnect with Recovery yoga workshop on Saturday, March 15th from 11 AM to 1 PM at Inner Door Center in Royal Oak. All current and former clients are welcome, along with individuals that would like to learn more about Inner Door Center’s eating disorder treatment programs and outpatient therapy programs for substance abuse and a variety of psychological concerns.
