Are you looking to join forces and honor a loved one lost to suicide? Do you want to show your support for a courageous person battling mental illness? Are you looking to skip the flowers and do something fun with your family for Mother’s Day? If so, this is the event for you. Spread the word and get a team together for the MOM Race.  You don’t need to complete the 5K together (especially this year), you just need to be united for the same cause!

Get Your Game On at the MOM Race

The MOM Race is the ultimate team sport! More than 50% of participants register as part of a team. MOM Race teams come in all shapes and sizes and help to personalize our event. We love seeing photos and hearing stories about the incredible people you're racing for. Interested in forming a team for the upcoming race? Come up with a unique name that represents your group and select the “team” option during the Eventbrite online registration process. From there you can create a new team (the first one to register will be the de facto captain) or join an existing team. Consider making custom t-shirts or signage to unite your team, though not required.

On normal years, prizes are awarded to the MOM Race team that has the most 5K finishers as well as the team that raises the most donations, independent of headcount. A prize is also distributed to the individual that raises the most donations for Mind Over Matter and is not associated with any team. Finally, finisher awards are distributed to the top male and female finishers of each age group. The awards ceremony begins at 11:00 AM and ends with the much-anticipated raffle prize drawing.

For the 2020 Virtual MOM Race, we will be looking for creative ways to recognize the largest and most spirited MOM Race teams. Please tag photos and videos of your DIY MOM Race experiences using #MOMRace2020 #BreakTheStigma #TheSilentEpidemic #DontStop as well as your team name. Even if COVID-19 social distancing requirements are relaxed after 4/30, we recommend completing your DIY MOM Race on your own this year, or only with members of your household. To unite with other members of your Virtual MOM Race team, consider racing on the same day in May, sharing photos and videos on a group page, creating a photo journal of your team's adventures, and/or having a video chat at the end of the month to recap and share stories about how you were inspired by your loved ones. Even if we cannot be together this year, there are still many creative ways to feel connected.
